Features
The PDW-HD1550 provides high definition XAVC Intra 422 recordings at 1920 x 1080 at various bitrates, including 59.94i, 50i, 29.97p, 23.98p and 25p.
The PDW-HD1550 has a highly flexible multi-format recording and playback capability as standard. As well as XAVC, users can select recording and playback formats from HD (MPEG HD422 50 Mbps and MPEG HD420 35 Mbps and 25 Mbps) and SD (MPEG IMX50/30 and DVCAM) in a variety of frame frequencies.
For SxS users, the PDW-HD1550 is equipped with a USB interface that supports an SxS and Professional Disc bridge solution. USB storage support is provided with external USB HDD and SxS memory card media support using an external SBAC-US20 card reader.
The recorder supports the latest Professional Disc media, including Quad Layer PFD-128QLW, Triple Layer PFD-100TLA, Dual Layer PFD-50DLA and Single Layer PFD-23A.
The PDW-HD1550 is equipped with a jog/shuttle dial and RS-422 control, providing VTR-like operation (Jog: -1 to +1 times normal speed; Variable: -2 to +2 times normal speed*; Shuttle: -20 to +20 times normal speed). Created proxy data can support smooth frame-by-frame transitions even in XAVC format, which is equivalent to HD422 quality and helps the user to not miss any frame when checking recorded clips.
* -1 to +2 times normal speed in XAVC format.
Uncompressed PCM recording of 24-bit 48 kHz audio enables 8-channel audio recording at high sound quality.
This unit features a standard up-convert function, allowing SD signals to be input to the SD/HD-SDI INPUT connector and recorded as HD. The unit can also output HD signals while playing in SD material, allowing SD material to be utilised in an HD environment.
The unit is provided with a down-convert function. HD playback signals can be down-converted to SD signals and then output as SD-SDI or composite signals. This allows you to use SD non-linear editors and monitors for editing and programme output.
This unit supports cross-conversion output. It can output 720 while playing 1080, material and output 1080 while playing 720 material.
HD-SDI connections can be made to camcorders with remote HD-SDI support.
Proxy AV data is a low-resolution (1.5 Mbps video, 64 kbps per audio channel), MPEG-4 based version of a full resolution data stream. Whenever this unit records full resolution XAVC or MPEG HD 422 data, it simultaneously generates and records low-resolution proxy AV data. Because of its small size, proxy AV data can be transferred quickly over computer networks, easily edited in the field with laptop computers, and readily used in a wide variety of applications, such as content management on small-scale servers.
The unit is equipped with a 16:9, 4.3-inch colour LCD which allows you to check the contents of the disc and use the menu system without connecting an external monitor. The compact recorder also features a tilt-up front panel.
This unit supports HD-SDI video, 8-channel audio input and output, SD-SDI video, 8-channel audio input and output (the SD/HD-SDI input connector doubles as an SD-SDI input connector), SD composite output, AES/EBU digital audio 4-channel input and output, analogue audio 2-channel input and output, remote RS-422A (D-sub 9-pin x1) and video remote (D-sub 9-pin x1), plus HDMI output.
The unit features a Gigabit Ethernet connector as standard equipment. Via this connector, you can connect the unit to computers and networks to enable listing of the video, audio, and metadata files recorded on the Professional Disc, and rapid file transfers. Support for FTP commands makes it easy to carry out network file transfers from remote locations.
An easy-to-view colour LCD screen provided on the camcorder side panel enables advanced operations such as Thumbnail Search and Scene Selection. Status indicators such as four-channel audio meters, and disc and battery remaining time can also be displayed. Camera set-up menus can also be displayed.
The PDW-HD1550 provides AC, DC and battery power, allowing it to be used in a wide variety of applications, including in the studio and field.
